Rice cake food "dduk bbok kki"

Today I am going to talk about the food that are made out of rice cake which is called "dduk bbok kki". This food is made out of rice cake and has vegetables in side. The sauce is made out of red pepper sauce which is called "go choo jang" which is the main original dduk bbok kki. There are many different style of dduk bbok kki which are spicy or salty or mild or with cheese. Here are some pictures to show you guys what I am talking about.


These are what we call dduk bbok kki and some of them are made with ramen inside which we call it ra bbok kki.
for those who love spicy food should try this because it is realy good! rice cake are just like mochi!

Korean traditional desert "sik hea & su jung gua".

Today I want to tell you guys about Korea's traditional desert which is called Sik Hea and Su Jung Gua. These two desert the most common Korea's traditional desert you can find in Korean restaurants. These two deserts are served chilled or cold.
This one on the top is the Su Jung Gua which is made out of the cinamon. It has the strong smell and taste of the cinamon.  This tea helps digestion when you have weak stomach, helps for headache, and helps skin.
This one is the Sik Hea which is made out of ginger and rice. This tea is sweeter than Su Jung Gua so many kids like this one rather than the Su Jung Gua. This one Also helps digestion. For those who have cold body temperature, this helps the body to make temperature go up.
You can buy these drinks selling in the cans which they sell at palama or keeamoku super market.
You guys should try this at least once when you eat Korean food! Have a nice day and good luck with your finals!

Pig feet "Jok Bal"

Today, I want to tell you about one of Korean's favorite food that matches well with soju which is called "jok Bal". Jok Bal is made out of pig feet which is steamed. Now a days we have healthy Jok Bal which is steamed togather with jingseng and other stuff. How do you eat this? Here are steps how to eat Jok Bal.
First, you dip the Jok Bal with sauce.
Second you wrap it with Letus and Sesame leaf.
Third, you put galic or kimchi and put bean paste which is miso.
Fourth, You eat it!

You can find these in Hawaii too. Many Korean restaurants in Hawaii serve this food!

Raw crab!

Today I want to tell you about the food that is made out of raw crab called "Gae Jang". In Korea this food is well known as rice stealer because with only this food, you can eat more than 2 bowls of rice in 2 min! There are two kind of Gae Jang. One is soyu marinated and other one is spicy Gae Jang.
You must eat this with rice because its really salty. If some of you who are alergic to sea food, you can't eat this one.

In Hawaii, there aren't many Korean restaurants that sell this food because this food must be made out of fresh live crabs other wise it would not have the same taste as the way they make in Korea. Also the price of crab is too expensive in Hawaii too.
You can easily find this in Korea because crab is cheap in Korea. I know there is one place that sell this in Hawaii. The name of the restaurant is Choi's garden. It is about $40 for one crab I believe.

Hot stone pot mixed rice "Dol sot bab"

Today I want to tell you about healthy Korean food which is called Dol sot bab. Dol sot means hot stone pot and bab means rice. So basically this food is rice mixed with vegetables and meat in a hot stone pot. You can add go choo jang sauce which is hot pepper sauce to make the taste better. Here are some pictures to show you so that you guys can know how it looks like.

These pictures on the top is basically regular dol sot bab.
In Korea, there are many different dol sot bab too which is called dol sot yung yang bab. This is mixed with so many healthy vegetables such as ju ju be, chest nut, ging seng, beans, mushrooms, and etc. Here are some pictures how it looks like.

These ones on the top, you use some kind of soy sauce to make the taste better instead of hot pepper sauce.
You could find there dol sot bab in any Korean restauratns in Hawaii including shokudo!

Chicken lovers "Sam ge tang"

Today, I would like to introduce you the Korean traditional food which many Japanese loves to eat. The name of the food is " Sam ge tang". This food is usually eaten during summer which we call the day lucky day which is the beginning of July. Korean people eat this to help themselves to charge their energy during hot summer season. It helps our body to become stronger during hot days. This food is a soup with whole chicken. Inside the chicken, there are jing seng, rice, jujube and more! Many places have different broth of soup and the inside ingredients.

You could find this any place in Korea because many of the tourists, especially Japanese, look for this food. Also, you deep the chicken with salt pepper sauce to make the chicken taste better.

Cold noodle which we call "Neng Myun"

Neng myun is one of Korea's traditional cold noddle which is very popular summer season. There are many kinds of Neng myun in Korea. Also Neng myun is popular for diet food and better than other noodles. When you go to Korea, you can find many different style of neng myun because every province have different style of their own style. Here are some pictures of regular neng myun that you can find in any Korean restaurant.
 The neng myun above is mul neng myun.
This one is the bi bim neng myun which is spicy. This is one of my favoritre neng myun.
 
Also you could find neng myun that you could make it at home just like ramen. You could find those in the Korean super market in Hawaii too!
If you go to Korea in summer season, please try this cold noodle!! It taste way better than hot noodles!! Have a great day!

One of my favorite Korean food "Gam Ja Tang"

This is one of my favorite Korean food called "Gam Ja Tang" which is made out of pork neck bone. I recomend this food to thsoe who love to eat meat! There are so many popular restaurant in Korea which sell only this food as the main food. Also all those restaurants have different deal. Some of them have unlimited refils on the meat and some of are not. Plus there is portion for one person or portion for more than two which comes with big pot. Here are some of the pictures to show you how it looks like.

This picture above is showing left bones after finish eating this food.
After eating all the meat, they use the left over soup to make fried rice adding sea weed, rice, vegetables and house special sauce. This is the second best part after eating all the meat.
You could find this food in Hawaii. But the teaste is not the same as original taste in Korea.

Today is about desert which is called "pat bing su"

"Pat bing su" which is one of Korea's famouse desert that many people eat in summer time. This is made with shave ice with red bean and other toppings such as fruits or ice cream. Also it has many different flavors such as green tea, strawberry or etc. Every places have different style of "Pat bing su". Here are some of the examples of pic that you can see how it looks like.



These are you can find any where in Korea for desert.
If you would like to try this in Hawaii, try go to the cool Ice place where near by Kiamoku super market or accross the walmart. You could try it. It would not be same as what you see here in the pictures. Enjoy your eating time everyone!!

Korean Sausage "soon dae"

Today I want to tell you guys about Korean Sausage which we call in Korea "Soon Dae". This is one of the Korean traditional food that you must eat when you visit Korea.

for those who love Korean "jijimi" with "rice wine"

I have been to this place and I recomend to you all to go there at least one time when you go to Korea. This place is where you could drink "rice wine" for infinte when you just pay about 7 dollar per person.Also there are so many differnt kind of rice wine. But the "jijimi" is have to pay seperate, but there are so many different "jijimi" and it taste sooooo good. one of my favorite one was "cheese jijimi" this place is located in "Hong Dae (Hong Dae University area)". You could find many other popular restaurats but this is one of the best and well known place for the college students.
Why do we drink rice wine with jijimi? this is Korean culture that rice wine and jijimi matches well together. Also on rainy day, people want to drink rice wine and want to eat jijimi.

One of best noddle house!

This is one of the chain in Korea which selling Japanese style ramen (noodle). They make their own noodle and the noodle is 100% hand made. The name of this restaurant is "IPPUDO". You could pronounce it as "Eat Foodo". Also you can find this restaurant in Japan too because this restaurant chain is originally from Japan. Please watch it from 2 min foward.
